A little organisation before departure can make arrival less of a scramble. The aim is simple: know where you are going, know how to get there, and be able to find the details when you need them.
01. Make one simple trip note.
Bring together your transport times, accommodation addresses, booking references and provider contact details. Label each stop clearly. Keep booking information private rather than posting it in public travel groups.
02. Plan the first hour after arrival.
Work out how to reach your accommodation, where any transfer meets you and how check-in works. Confirm unclear instructions with the provider before leaving.
03. Save useful information offline.
Download confirmations and essential addresses, then check they open without a connection. Follow your provider’s instructions for valid tickets or boarding passes; an ordinary screenshot is not always a substitute.
04. Know what your map can do offline.
Download the relevant area in advance where your map app supports it, and check its limitations. For example, Google Maps does not provide walking, cycling or public transport directions offline. Read Google’s offline map guidance.
05. Check the final details with your providers.
Review departure information, any booking changes and the local times for each stage. Add reminders for fixed bookings. Then put the information where everyone travelling with you knows how to find it.
This is an organisation checklist, not a complete list of travel requirements. Check the current official requirements for your own destination and journey.
